iron fish shoal
This piece is a kinetic mobile composed of four large metal fishes, each delicately balanced on steel rods. As the structure moves, the fishes drift slowly and occasionally touch. Each contact closes a circuit read by an Arduino, triggering a shift in the projection, which draws from the rough textures and material qualities of the metal scraps used to create the fishes.
The projection responds directly to the movement and contact of the fish, turning their motion into a simple, interactive visual system.
By expanding a familiar childhood mechanism into a sculptural form, the work becomes a system of communication through movement, material, and light, transforming gentle collisions into expressive signals.
